This auction is for a rare and totally exotic 1930s green bakelite on wood Monkey and Parrot jungle themed brooch. The parrot and the monkey has a realistic glass eye, which is used in many of the bakelite animal pins. The top layer of the brooch is that fabulous green bakelite, with the bottom layer composed of dark walnut colored wood. This brooch features intricate workmanship and realistic detail, as well as a charming "folksiness", which makes this a really great work of bakelite jewelry art. Great vintage condition, with a small line on the monkeys tail that, of course, does not go through the wood backing. This brooch was made in the 1930s and measures 3.5" in height and 3" across.
